Another Day in Paradise

Went to work an hour and a half early today. Why so early? Three reasons:

1. I get to work early enough that hardly anyone else is there. Not that I dislike my coworkers --- they're great people --- but sometimes a man wants to talk to himself and listen to Faster Pusssycat in private.

2. I've got shit to do. I start by reloading my truck because the guy the delivery company pays to load my truck is illiterate, plus the usual stuff: paperwork, DOT compliance, the day job, vacation, drinking, smoking, threesome with Japanese twins ... Anyhow, like they say: you've got to get it started if you want to get it done.

3. You'd be amazed at the stuff flying through your head at 0645. There's a whole free association/stream of consciousness thing going on (it's really quite Faulkner). When you're in the thinking business, that's valuable.

I'm not sure how the three reasons stack up relative to each other; I suppose it depends on what day it is.

Mmmm.......Coffee

Right, then, I'm feeling much better now. A proper greeting: I'm Flores, and this is my blog. I'm restarting this over again, and not so sure how it's going to go (or if anybody cares). I decided to start blogging for two reasons:

1. I've been reading a lot of blogs lately, and wanted to get in on the act.
2. I'm just bubbling over with opinions on every subject under the sun. Maybe using this space to vent will spare my poor coworkers and friends some of my ranting.

Some introductions:

I'm Flores and I am the only contributor here. I am a former college graduate with a degree in history/russian turned package car driver in the grand state of Oklahoma. If you really want to know who exactly I am, that's enough to figure it out. Oklahoma isn't exactly overflowing with delivery car drivers that can speak russian. I am single with few responsibilities (Hello Ladies). My interests are extremely varied. Similarly, this blog sits where history, public policy, obscure cultural items, and my own (surprisingly bizarre) personal life come together.

3 Cups of Coffee Later

In the grand tradition of novice programmers everywhere, I begin blogging with the words "Hello, World!"

First Post

It's 5:30 in the morning and i don't know why i'm up
